Application laboratories in Jena and Aachen

To close the gap between of the novel laser sources and application development, Fraunhofer will open application facilities in Jena and Aachen this year.

The multi-kW ultrafast laser sources and the jointly developed system technology will be available in the application laboratories. With it, the partners will explore applications in four future fields: production, imaging, materials and fundamental research.

Moreover, partners from industry and fundamental research are invited to participate in using this unique infrastructure. For them, the cluster acts as a ”virtual institute”, in which the experts from the 13 Fraunhofer institutes FEP, IAF, IIS, IKTS, IMWS, ISE, ISIT, ITWM, IWM, IWS, IZI and ILT and IOF offer their combined expertise.
